The province of Palawan remains to be undisputed when it comes to its breathtaking islands, as it was included in CNN’s list of the most beautiful islands in the world. Because of its idyllic beaches and notable diversity, Palawan became a perennial favorite amongst international organizations and award-giving bodies.

In an article posted in the last week of September, CNN described Palawan as a gorgeous haven of pale sand and clear water. It also mentioned El Nido’s secret beaches, limestone cliffs, and the famous Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, in Puerto Princesa, UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Included in the list are the Senja Island in Norway, Mo’orea in French Polynesia, Komodo Island in Indonesia, Jura in Scotland, St. Lucia in the Lesser Antilles, Fregate in Seychelles, Kaua’i in the United States, and Bartolomé in Ecuador.

Last July, Palawan was also included in “The World’s Best Awards 2019” list of Travelandleisure.com alongside Cebu and Boracay. These islands have been a longtime favorites thanks to its top-notch reef and wreck diving, white-sand beaches, hiking trails with waterfalls and welcoming locals.

El Nido alone has accumulated almost 300,000 tourists in 2018 and continues to ensure its sustainable tourism and safe environmental practices in the popular destination.

Not to mention, Palawan is composed of 1700 islands and islets and a very diverse ecosystem which led to several initiatives implemented by local NGOs and LGU’s, to help protect and maintain its current state.

One of its programs, the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park Act which aims to protect and care for the site, was lauded as a model in coral reef conservation. Through this kind of rehabilitation program, our future generation will still have the chance to see Palawan’s pristine beaches and clear waters.

Aside from island hopping, some of the activities to do in Palawan are visiting wildlife sanctuary areas, birdwatching, hiking, snorkeling, and kayaking.
