Philippine Weather Severe Tropical Storm Sarah Updates
Weather Update by PAGASA Issued at 11:00 AM, 21, Nov 2019

At 3:00 AM today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm “SARAH” {FUNG-WONG} was estimated based on all available data at 420 km East Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 340 km East of Basco, Batanes (20.1 °N, 125.2 °E), with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 115 km/h. It is moving North Northwest at 25 km/h. Meanwhile, at 3:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) (formerly “RAMON”) was estimated based on all available data at 55 km West Southwest of Iba, Zambales (14.7 °N, 119.8 °E).
SEVERE TROPICAL STORM SARAH SLIGHTLY INTENSIFIES AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE PHILIPPINE SEA.
- Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) #1 over Babuyan Islands is now lifted. However, gusty conditions will prevail over the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon, especially in the coastal and mountainous areas due to the surge of the Northeast Monsoon.
- At 10:00 AM today, the remnant Low Pressure Area (LPA) of Tropical Depression “Ramon” was estimated based on all available data at 225 km West Southwest of Subic, Zambales (14.2°N, 118.3°E).
- Rainfall outlook for today: Light to moderate rains with some isolated heavy rainshowers over Isabela, Cagayan (especially on the eastern section), Aurora and northern Quezon due to the trough of Severe Tropical Storm “SARAH”.
- Residents in the aforementioned areas are advised to continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm or Rainfall Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions.
- Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea crafts, over the seaboards of areas under TCWS, seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, and the western seaboard of Southern Luzon due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions caused by “SARAH” and the Northeast Monsoon.
- “SARAH” is forecast to gradually weaken tomorrow or on Saturday. It is also forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday.
